KoirMat™ woven coir erosion control fabrics

KoirMat™ is a woven coconut-fiber fabric that helps protect exposed soil while vegetation establishes. Made from cleaned, freshwater-cured coir yarn, its open weave allows plants to grow through the matting.

The range includes KoirMat™ 400, 700, 900 and 1000, with different fabric weights and open areas to suit project requirements.

The lightest fabric in the range, with the most open weave.

Natural fiber, practical soil protection

Woven coir helps hold soil in place while roots develop.
The open structure supports vegetation growth through the fabric.
Coir absorbs and retains moisture and gradually biodegrades.
Its natural earth-tone appearance blends with the surrounding landscape.

Expected service life

KoirMat™ has an expected service life of 2–5 years, depending on the application and exposure conditions. Vegetation establishment, soil conditions and installation quality affect performance.

Choosing a grade

Consider slope, soil, water flow, vegetation and anchoring requirements when selecting a fabric. Fabric weight alone does not determine suitability. Compare the grades in the Technical Specification tab and contact Nedia for help with project requirements.

Specification note: The downloadable sheets currently list an older longevity range. The current expected service life is 2–5 years, as stated above. Confirm current project specifications with Nedia before ordering.

Coconut Fiber Logs

KoirLog™ coconut fiber logs

Support shoreline and streambank vegetation with densely packed coconut fiber logs. KoirLog helps reduce the impact of moving water, capture sediment and provide a moist growing medium for plant plugs as roots become established.

Choose from three diameters and two coir-net densities to suit the project design. The coconut fiber core is double cleaned and enclosed in high-strength coir twine netting.

Choose your log diameter

Standard lengths are 10 or 20 feet. Custom lengths are available on request; confirm the required diameter, length and density when requesting a quote.

KoirLog 12

12-inch diameter (approximately 30 cm)

Available in ND and HD coir-net construction, in standard 10- or 20-foot lengths.

KoirLog 16

16-inch diameter (approximately 40 cm)

Available in ND and HD coir-net construction, in standard 10- or 20-foot lengths.

The project designer should select diameter, density, anchoring and the number of log tiers based on flow velocity, wave exposure, stream energy, soil conditions and site access.

Designed to support living shorelines

Coir-net KoirLog typically lasts two to five years, depending on site conditions. As the coir breaks down, established vegetation helps retain the soil. Plant selection, installation and follow-up maintenance all influence the result.

Protect exposed soil while vegetation takes root

Nedia’s erosion control blankets combine straw, coconut fiber or a blend of both with stitched netting to help hold soil in place on slopes and in channels during vegetation establishment.

Compare the eight models below by fiber type and net construction. Models ending in B use biodegradable netting. Other models use photodegradable or UV-stabilized polypropylene netting, as listed for each product.

Product selection depends on the slope, slope length, flow conditions and project requirements. Review the individual specification sheet before choosing a blanket.

Straw blankets

Choose single-net S300 models for gentler slopes and low-flow channels, or double-net S400 models for slopes and channels requiring additional reinforcement.

Composite turf reinforcement mats

CTRM products combine a natural fiber matrix with polypropylene reinforcement. The natural fibers biodegrade over time; the synthetic reinforcement remains.

Coir Sediment Control

Coir sediment control for slopes, inlets and site perimeters

Help intercept sediment before runoff carries it farther across a site. Nedia offers two natural coir systems: KoirFence, a woven sediment-control fabric, and KoirWattle, a flexible fiber roll that follows the ground surface.

Each has a different installation method and role in an erosion and sediment control plan. Use the product summaries below to compare the formats, then review applications, installation guidance and technical specifications in the tabs.

KoirFence™ 1250

A tightly woven, biodegradable coir fabric for staked sediment barriers. The fabric helps filter sediment-laden runoff while allowing water to pass through.

KoirWattle™ 6 & 9

Flexible rolls of coconut fiber enclosed in high-strength, knotted coir netting. Installed in contact with the soil, they help slow runoff and trap sediment.

Choose the right format for the site

KoirFence forms a supported fabric barrier. KoirWattle creates a low-profile barrier along the soil surface and can be arranged across slopes or around inlets where the project design permits.

Select the product, size, spacing and anchoring for the expected runoff, soil and site geometry. A wattle is an alternative to silt fence only where the project specifications allow it.

Both systems use natural coir that gradually biodegrades. Inspect and maintain them throughout the required sediment-control period; the site plan determines when material should remain, be replaced or be removed.
